DVL: Watson has a day to remember as Snainton hammer Ganton 2nds

Watson was in form with the bat as he smashed an unbeaten 117 in Snainton’s huge 265-2, Carl Wilson, 54, Michael Eyre, 48 and Paul Nicholson, 25 not out, offering support as Dan Reardon took both wickets for Ganton 2nds 49 runs.

Despite Mark Lockwood hitting 24 in the reply, Watson was at it again as he took 7-28 and also took three catches to round-off a superb individual performance and team effort as they skittled out Ganton for just 78.

Valley Bar Nomads also enjoyed a comfortable afternoon as Dave Parkinson, 6-4, and Jim Hunter 4-12, combined to bowl Ravenscar 2nds out for just 17 before knocking the runs off without loss.

There was another dominant win in the division as Muston eased past rock-bottom Scalby 3rds.

Mark Precious, 5-16, and Steve Norris, 5-25, did the damage with the ball as Jack Boddy’s side were all out for just 52, before Pete Bray hit an unbeaten 36 in the reply as no wickets fell.

Cayton 3rds remain in the promotion hunt after they took a secured a huge win against rivals Wykeham 3rds.

Darren Jones was their star man as he produced figures of 6-50 as he teamed up with Chris Pearson, 3-46, to bowl Wykeham out for 127 before hitting 25 as they made it home seven wickets down.

Steve Roswald also hit 30 as Cayton eased home to the victory despite Graham Shannon claiming 3-27.

It was a concerning day for the Derwent Valley League as two games were conceded in Division A, both Forge Valley 3rds and Nawton Grange 2nds conceding their games against Hospitals/Rugby Club and Flixton 3rds respectively.

Kirkbymoorside hammered Wold Newton by 112 runs to claim a 19-point haul.

They made 204-5 batting first as James Magson smashed 74 and was supported by Graham Jeminson, 39, Jamie Harper, 37, and Andy Marley 26.

Despite Steve Harrison compiling 61 in reply, none of his teammates could contribute and they ended their knock on 92-9 as Harper took 4-16 and Howard Mudd 3-21.

It was a low-scoring affair at Filey 2nds, where the home side suffered a six-wicket reverse against Sherburn 2nds.

Filey were all out for just 62 as Arran Oldroyd shone with the ball, taking figures of 6-28 while Dan Bean took 3-29, only Ian Chapman troubling the scorers with an unbeaten 27.

Kev Chapman then did his best to drag Filey back into the game with 3-36, but Philip Leckonby’s 29 helped Sherburn home to 63-4.
