AFC Eastfield Sirens earned their second successive East Riding County Women’s League second division win in as many weeks with a hard-earned 2-0 victory at a breezy Great Driffield on Sunday afternoon.

A dominant first-half performance saw the Sirens head into the break with a deserved 2-0 lead thanks to an excellent finish from the in-form Amelia Breckon and a stunning 35-yard shot from midfielder Laura Russell.

The second half brought moments of great football and excellent teamwork, Sirens knocking on the door time and time again but unable to find the back of the net, the home keeper denying them on several occasions.

Driffield never gave up and battled right until the final whistle.

The Sirens player of the match was Laura Russell, sponsored by Siksilk, who was an absolute workhorse in the middle of the park.

She was involved in everything, defensively and going forward, and put in a fantastic all-round performance and topped it off with an absolute worldie of a goal.
