Pearson hits treble as Pocklington Town 2nds win 11-goal thriller at Hemingbrough United

There was just the one Saturday men's game for Pocklington Town FC last weekend as Pock 2nds travelled to familiar foes Hemingbrough United and fought it out in an 11-goal thriller.

Pock looked to upset York League Division One promotion-pushing Hemingbrough, just like they have done in the past.

Historically, this has always been a tasty fixture. And this one was to be no different.

The game burst into life immediately as both teams looked to get on the scoresheet early, frantic action at both ends of the field led to an opener for the home side Hemingbrough.

This seemed to light a fire in Pocklington who hit back with goals from main-man Ross Pearson and Tom Knowles.

This lead was short-lived as Hemingbrough flipped the script with a flurry of three goals leaving the half-time score at 4-3.

Pock struck back yet again with a well taken goal from young winger Fin Waldron.

Surely the game couldn't get any crazier, could it? Just Three minutes later Pock were begged back again by a brilliant counter attack from Hemingbrough.

The chaos of the match just could not be contained, nine goals, managers shouting, tackles flying in and goalmouth scrambles, what more could you want from a match? Oh, more goals?

Luckily, Pock were in the spirit of giving this Christmas as they hit Hemingbrough with two late goals from Alex Nattrass and Pearson to seal the deal in dramatic fashion.

A fantastic away win in the final game of 2025 should give Pocklington a much-needed confidence boost heading into the new year.
