Bridlington Alexandra BC Vets B team see off Hutton Cranswick
The week began on Monday with a re-arranged game between the Bridlington Alexandra Bowls Club Vets B team and Hutton Cranswick in Division E.
Howarth/Scruton/Dawson got off to a slow start and were 5-2 down after 5 ends.

They soon found their form, however, and by end 9 they had moved into a 9-5 lead.
By end 13 this lead had been extended to 17-7 and they then went on to take three of the remaining five ends to run out 21-11 winners.
The second rink was a similar game, Watson/Talbot/Howarth being in control for the entire game and eventually running out 20-17 winners. All six points to the Alex.
Tuesday saw Bridlington’s A team in action against Nafferton A in Division 1 of the Midweek League.
McCall/Hobson/McCall found themselves in a very close encounter over the first 12 ends.
They led 7-3 by end 6 but Nafferton drew level on end 12 with the scores at 10-10.
The game then swung in favour of Bridlington and by end 16 they had opened up a nine-shot advantage.
Five shots on each of the remaining two ends gave them an emphatic 29-10 win.
Buckle/Mitchell/Mitchell were 7-3 up on end 5 but by end 8 the visitors had moved into an 8-7 lead.
Nine shots over the following three ends swung the game back in Bridlington’s favour and although Nafferton reduced the gap to just four shots by end 17, four shots to Bridlington on the last end gave them a 23-15 victory.
Six points to Bridlington.
The B team played Beeford in Division 2 and Allen/Morgan/Booth found themselves 13-15 down after nine ends.
The second half of the game saw a remarkable comeback with the Bridlington triple winning seven of the next nine ends, including six shots on ends 13 and 15, to take the game 28-17.
On the second rink Watson/Paylor/Talbot fought a very close contest with their opponents.
Six-one down after four ends, the Alex triple held their nerve and slowly worked their way back into contention to level the match 12-12 with only one end remaining.
Unfortunately for Bridlington, Beeford scored the one shot needed on the final end to win the game. Four out of the six points to Bridlington.
On Wednesday the Alex A team visited Hutton Cranswick A in Division 1 of the Vets League and Buckle/Mitchell/Mitchell were soon into their stride, building up an 11-1 lead by end 7.
Their good form continued for the remainder of the game with them eventually running out 22-6 victors.
The second rink was not so fruitful for Bridlington with a strong Cranswick triple on top for most of the game finishing comfortable 25-6 winners. Two points to Bridlington.
The Vets B team played Walkington 3 in Division E and Edmonds/Howarth/Dawson got off to an impressive start, leading 14-3 by end 7.
Walkington hit back and won the following 3 ends to narrow the gap to just 3 shots but the Alex triple were undeterred and went on to win 23-14.
There was a similar story on the second rink where Watson/Talbot/Booth took an early lead at 7-0 by end 4.
By end 9, however, their opponents had come back to level the game at 9-9.
The Bridlington triple then regained their form and won all of the remaining ends to gain a 25-12 victory. Six points to Bridlington.
Thursday took the A team to Leven Playing Fields in Division 1.
McCall/Hobson/McCall were in control for most of their game and comfortably won their rink 24-8.
The other rink was the opposite with Leven taking the game 27-11.
One rink to each team and the aggregate shared meant three points to each team.
The final game of the week saw Bridlington travel to Langtoft in Division 1 of the Independent League.
McCall/Talbot/McCall were involved in a close game with their opponents.
After five ends the game was tied at 4-4 but by end 8 Langtoft had moved into a 10-7 lead.
The Bridlington triple then hit form and won seven of the remaining 10 ends to take the game 18-13.
Watson/Morgan/Hutchinson began slowly, being 5-2 down after six ends, but by end 10 they had established a 13-5 lead.
After end 14 their lead had moved to 18-8 but Langtoft set up a close finish by winning the remaining four ends, only to leave Bridlington winning at 18-14.
The final rink also involved a very close encounter with Buckle/Mitchell/Mitchell just ahead throughout the game and finally winning with a score or 18-14. All eight points to Bridlington.
On Tuesday of that week the club welcomed members of the council who came along to present the club a plaque celebrating the club receiving a community grant that had enabled them to purchase not only new greenkeeping equipment but also new shoes, mats, jacks and pushers for use when the club is visited and used by members of the public.
Such a great boost for our little club.
