Corinthians Tigers and Premier Club Eagles share spoils in clash of Scarborough Table Tennis League Division One’s top two
The top two teams in Scarborough Table Tennis League Division One went toe-to-toe with neither able to get the advantage in a match that ended as a draw.
The fixture pitted the Corinthians Tigers’ veteran Martin Lowe against Premier Club Eagles’ pretenders Mia Longman and Louis Fell, writes Karl Cousins.

On this occasion Lowe got the upper hand and took three singles wins on the night. It took a win in the doubles for Longman and Fell against Lowe and Gary Connolly to salvage a share of the points.
Veteran John Warburton continues to perplex all-comers and, after winning each of his singles matches, led Corinthians Panthers to a 6-4 win over Keep it Pimple.

Revenge came in a thrilling doubles match as KiP’s Matthew Rutt and Alistair Hutchinson beat the pairing of Warburton and Peter Ozon over five sets.
Keep it Pimple closed the week with their first win of the season - a 6-4 win over Premier Club Hawks in a fixture that had been postponed earlier in the season.
The match also saw a first treble of the season for Matt Rutt, the winning side’s leading player.
Picadore headed to joint-top spot in Division Two with a 7-3 win against Whitby Resolution.
A tight match saw each Picadore ace win two matches each. Steve Atkinson narrowly failed to get to three wins following a 3-2 loss against Whitby’s Barry Davies.
John Hanson top-scored for Whitby with two wins.
Jack Evans was in fine form in Premier Club Wolves’ 7-3 defeat of US, the junior player’s treble included a hard-fought win in five sets against Tom Byrne.
Two wins apiece for Ben Ottaway and Seb Richards helped confirm an impressive win.
The doubles was an epic with Adam Pietrrzyk and Frank Horswell outlasting Ottaway and Evans 11-8, 11-6, 11-13, 8-11, 11-8.
In Division Three, Premier Club Penguins beat Premier Club Dolphins 6-4.
Nigel Fell maintained good form for Penguins with a treble but needed five sets to beat Jamie Curran. Rob Ottaway won two for Penguins but lost a five-setter to Curran, who won two on the night. In the doubles Nigel and Jen Fell let a 2-1 lead slip to end up losing to Curran and Aleksandra Michalik.
Jude Hastie shone as Premier Club Scorpions beat Premier Club Sharks 7-3.
Hastie hit a treble for the loss of only one set. Liam Timmins, with two wins, led Sharks’ resistance but two wins for Jamie Curran - the busiest player of the week - and a doubles win for Curran and Hastie sealed the win.
