Ebison and Perrett claim Whitby Sea Anglers Association League wins

On Wednesday night, there were screaming SEasterly winds 40 mph, leading to very localised SEasterly 5-7ft swell with colour.

Match started two hours after HWater, and weed was a big problem right from the start, until it dropped-out as the tide made a fast retreat. Casting and bite detection were severely hampered, full concentration to keep lines high, and out of the weed soup in the surf.

At the scales, of the nine fishing, seven had a weigh-in - nine codlings, and three whitings for 23lb 11oz.

Man of the Match, with his second Heaviest Bag of Fish win, was Jason Ebison, Whitby, with two codlings, 7lb 2oz, his best 4lb 12oz also took Heaviest Fish of the night, his fourth win.

Next best fish was 3lb 3oz from Secretary Peter Horbury.

Ebison, the only mover on the leaderboard, is now in fourth position, knocking Davey Turnbull, Darlington, into fifth place.

Sunday SWesterly winds 20-38mph, fishing an hour to top of tide, and three hours back.

With a flat sea state, it was a scratching match, anything for a weigh-in.

Clear skies for the first 90 minutes when suddenly a squall hit, sending bait box lids, and anything not nailed down into the sea.

The rain lasted for a half-hour, the skies cleared, and the wind returned to sporadic gusts.

Bites were non-existent, baits coming back after 20 minutes totally untouched, a hard night for all!

Man of the Match Dave Perrett, Whitby with a bonne-surprise 5lb 4oz codling (the only one).

Dave has eight Heaviest Bags of Fish and seven Heaviest Fish wins this season.

The weigh-in, 12lb 5oz, average 14oz, mainly whitings (10), and rocklings (3). Nine seniors and one junior fished.
