Laura Bluck ran 250 miles during the month of November in aid of MND (Motor Neurone Disease), Help for Heroes, Mind, Alzheimer’s Society and Dementia UK.

Bluck received a flood of messages of support during her challenge, including a Tweet from Sir Tom Moore, who wrote: “Well done Laura, you’re almost there.”

Bluck said: “With Covid all my races were cancelled or postponed, so I have been signing up to virtual races, of course I saw that charities were struggling as there were no events, so I made the decision to run 250 miles for five charities in November.

“All the charities gave amazing support.

“I picked MND after seeing the Rob Burrow story and was shocked that in 2020 there is no cure for this illness.

“Through my work I have met some amazing people who have lost loved ones from Dementia and Alzheimers, so I wanted to raise money for those two.

“I love the work that Help for Heroes do and with people struggling with the two lockdowns, Mind was my other choice.

“The final week was the best week, running a total of 9.3 miles a day, which was achieved by running five and 10k each day.

“One day I met Leeds and England legend David Batty on North Bay, and on my social media I received likes and comments from Sir Tom Moore, Nell McAndrew and Liz Yelling, which helped me to keep running.

“My last run was on November 30, with the final run a 5km along the North Bay.”

Bluck has raised a superb total of £1,300 so far and would love to push that figure up to the £1,500-mark.

She added: “So far I have raised over £1,300, I would love to hit £1500, so my page is still open until the end of December and any further donations would be much appreciated.”
