Name changes confirmed for crown green bowling cup competitions
Important cup competition decisions were made at the East Coast of Yorkshire Crown Green Bowling Association AGM.
The first relates to the competitions that have been referred to as “Champion of Champions”.

It has long been recognised that this description is inaccurate as someone can win one of these without having actually won a merit during the season.
They will now be known as “The President’s Trophy, Summer Championship”, “The Muir Memorial Trophy, Over-60s Championship” and “The Winter Championship” with the Management Committee deciding a name for the latter.
The Mick Jessop Cup, entry to which is restricted to winners of singles merit will now become the "Mick Jessop Cup, Champion of Champions”.
In addition all Over-60s singles merits, winter and summer, will carry points for the Muir Memorial Trophy.
Secondly there are major changes to entry to the William Boyes and Hospital Cups and the Rosebowl Doubles.
The limit on numbers entering has been raised to a maximum of 64 and clubs will now only have a limited period to fill their basic allocation of spaces.
After that spare spaces will be allocated to other clubs. The exact details of how this will work will be decided by the Management committee.
The third major change is that there will now be a supplementary competition for teams that lose their first game in the Association Knock Out Cup.
Again the Management Committee will finalise the details on how this competition will be run and, if it proves successful, on a name for it.
