Scarborough Athletic Club trio lead the way at canicross events

With a seasonal shortage of the usual races, three Scarborough Athletic Club members competed in Canicross races at national and local venues.

At Locko Park Derby, Victoria Lockey achieved excellent results with her three dogs Dasher, Molly and Wednesday, at the Midlands Canicross series of races over two days, writes Mick Thompson.

Dasher was fourth in the three-kilometre Bikejor race, and with Molly he was third in the three-kilometre Two-Dog Race.

Dasher joined up with Wednesday who made her Canicross debut, and the duo finished second in the 1.5-kilometre Bikejor race.

At Dalby Forest, Darren Marshall and Jenna Wheatman competed with their dogs in a five-kilometre race, with Marshall finishing in fifth and Wheatman in seventh.

At the Bushy Park Teddington, South West London Parkrun, Harry Whitehouse ran his 124th different event of his 162 total.

The event is notable for a large number of runners, and this time there was 1,071 spread across 40-metres start.

Harry was pleased to finish second of 12 Over-70s.

Ten club members took part in the North Yorkshire Water Park Parkrun

Duncan Smart was the first finisher for the club home in 50th overall of 93.

He followed by Sarah Noble who was third female overall of 491.

Monty Kettlewell was the club’s sole junior and was first 11-14.

Just three club members took part in the Sewerby Parkrun.

Maurice Bates was first Over-70, and Gail Barnard second Over-55, Pauline Elliott fifth Over-45.

Guilia Wilkins took part in the Endcliffe Sheffield Parkrun and finished eighth Over-45.

Suzzane Villiers took part in the Aberbeeg Arbertilery Parkrun in Wales and was second Over-60.

Robert Preston took part in the Leazes Newcastle Parkrun and finished up in seventh of 293.
