Scarborough swimmers rose to the occasion throughout the competition, continuing the club’s impressive progression on both the regional and national swimming pathway.

Leading the way was Wiktor Gora, who secured multiple finals appearances and continued to establish himself as one of the region’s top young swimmers.

One of his standout moments saw him qualify first for a final after a superb morning swim against some of the strongest competitors in the North East.

Charlie Hewitt also impressed throughout the championships, producing several long-course personal bests and earning finals appearances.

His continued development reflects the hard work and commitment being shown both in training and competition.

Joseph Boddy also enjoyed a strong regional campaign after qualifying for the 400m Individual Medley, 100m Butterfly and 200m Butterfly events.

Joseph produced an excellent PB in the 100m Butterfly and continued to show significant improvement throughout.

Unfortunately, he was disqualified in the 400m Individual Medley, but coaches praised the way he responded positively and continued competing with determination and professionalism.

Toby Hewitt continued his excellent season with strong performances and championship finals, while Ella Richardson produced outstanding swims and continued to gain valuable experience racing at regional level.

Ella said: “Qualifying for two North East Regional Championship times is an achievement, but I managed to achieve personal bests in both the 400m Individual Medley and 200m Butterfly.

“Having a positive mindset is key — along with great training and support from the coaches and team around you.”

Young swimmer Thea Renshaw showed tremendous determination during the championships after accidentally swimming 300m butterfly instead of the scheduled 200m event, resulting in a disqualification. Despite the disappointment, coaches, officials and parents praised her resilience and outstanding endurance.

Sami Baloch also impressed during the championships with confident performances and strong racing against high-quality regional competition.

Sami said: “It was an amazing experience swimming in a new pool, which I now absolutely love.

“The atmosphere there was brilliant and very professional, with the big North East Regional banners everywhere — which was a little intimidating at first.

“I felt like a proper professional being at the North East Regionals.

"I was very nervous before each race, but as soon as I dived in, it all disappeared in the amazing pool, and I felt fast and confident in the water.”

Senior Coach Nathan Renshaw added: “The swimmers have been outstanding throughout the championships. To compete at this level and continue delivering finals performances and long-course personal bests shows how much work they are putting in week after week.

“What makes me most proud is the way they support each other as a team. They represent Scarborough SC brilliantly in and out of the pool and continue to prove that swimmers from Scarborough can compete with the very best in the region.”

Scarborough SC thanked its volunteers, officials, parents and coaching staff for their support throughout the season.
