Seamer Bowling Club veterans claim victory at Thornton Dale Whistlestop
Seamer Bowling Club’s Vets team won both their games against Sleights Red and Sleights Blue, registering 15 league points out of a maximum of 16.
The most impressive win was by an all-ladies rink with Kathy Short skipping Margaret Stockdale and Sue Bond.

Seamer’s Open League side beat Ayton 54-40, winning two rinks and drawing the third, then losing 52-51 at Snainton.
Their best rink there was John Rokes, Denise and Derek Everson but the most exciting game saw Margaret Hill, Margaret Stockdale and Peter Lees stage a late comeback and almost snatch an overall draw.

Needing two shots to draw the match overall they managed a single to lose the rink and the match by one shot.
Home against Filey, Seamer recorded a losing draw winning two rinks, losing one and losing the overall aggregate by 7 shots.
The final match was a first leg KO at South Cliff, a 66-37 loss means Seamer have a mountain to climb in leg two.
The Aussie Pairs match v Burniston at home saw Seamer win two rinks and draw the third to win 64-36 and gain 7 points to Burniston’s 1.
There were great efforts from all six team members Kathy Short and Derek Everson, Sue and Dave Bond, Margaret Hill and Andrew Hyland.
Seamer’s Friday League side had a losing draw at home against Beeford, they won two rinks but lost the overall by nine shots.
Congratulations to the winning rinks Margaret Hill, Alan Jones and Stuart King and Sue and Dave Bond and Mel Riley.
Denise and Derek Everson narrowly missed out on reaching the quarter-finals at the Kirkby Aussie Pairs all day event.
Seamer’s three teams sparkled in the Thornton Dale all day Whistlestop.
In a field of 20 teams, Denise and Derek Everson with Kathy Short fell agonisingly short of third place and ended in fourth. In second were Sue and Dave Bond and Peter Richardson, who won three and drew their fourth game.
Mick Wharton, Peter Cross and Peter Lees were the only side to win all four games, exactly 20 years to the day after their last Dale win.
On Sunday Seamer hold their popular “Killer Bowls” afternoon, with entry, open to any bowler from any club, £1, including tea or coffee and biscuits at half-time, the draw takes place at 1.45pm.
