Sibling Yorkshire coast businesses collaborate on celebration lager

The teams at Wold Top Brewery and Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery have collaborated on a celebration lager to celebrate a decade of distilling.

The marketing team at the distillery, home to Filey Bay Single Malt Whisky, turned to sister company Wold Top to brew an anniversary lager to celebrate the landmark birthday.

“Long-term fans of Filey Bay will already know that we’ve collaborated with Wold Top in plenty of different ways over the years, from using their beer casks to mature our whisky, to releasing our own barrel-aged beers,” said Jenni Ashwood, marketing director at Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, and sister of Wold Top’s MD, Kate Balchin.

“However, this is the first time we’ve produced a standalone lager together, and it’s delicious! Made from the same regeneratively farmed barley from our family farm that goes into the whisky, Filey Bay 10th Anniversary Lager is a finely crafted single estate lager with notes of honey, herbs and lemon, together with lightly toasted malts. It’s the perfect way to celebrate a decade of distilling whisky in Yorkshire.”

Filey Bay 10th Anniversary Lager, 4.2% alc, is a limited-edition beer available exclusively online at spiritofyorkshire.com and from the distillery shop in Hunmanby. It costs £30 for 12 x 330ml cans.

Spirit of Yorkshire is a true field-to-bottle distillery and one of only a handful of distilleries worldwide that use 100% homegrown barley to produce its Single Estate single malt whisky. It was named one of the top 50 spirits producers in the world by the IWSC in 2025.
