Coastguard issues ‘understanding and respect’ plea over incidents
Bridlington Coastguard is asking people to be understanding and respectful when incidents are ongoing, or even recent.
The team is urging anyone who knows a member of the Coastguard team not to question them about callouts or put them in a difficult position by asking for information about incidents.

They are unable to share these specific details.
A Coastguard spokesperson said: “Over recent weeks, our team has been involved in a number of difficult callouts. You may not have seen posts about all of them, and that’s because we don’t always share every incident on social media.
“We’re putting this message out following a number of people contacting the page asking for information after seeing emergency services in attendance. While we understand the concern, it isn’t appropriate for us to release details of incidents in this way.
“What we can say is that we remain busy responding, supporting, and working quietly behind the scenes whenever we’re needed.
“Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Team is made up of ordinary people. We have day jobs, families, and everyday lives but when the call comes, we come together, often at the worst moments in someone else’s life, to do what we can to help.
“Teamwork is everything to us. The trust we have in each other, the support we give one another, and the shared determination to do our best in every situation is what keeps us going especially on the harder days.
“Not every story has the ending we hope for. And in those moments, our thoughts are always with the families and loved ones affected. Those are the times that remind us why we do this, and how important it is to look after each other, both on and off the coast.
“We kindly ask for understanding and respect when incidents are ongoing or recent, particularly for those directly involved.
“Thank you for your continued support, it truly means a lot to the team.”
