Creative and adventurous art techniques
The professional artists introduced students to the skills of large-scale puppetry using a combination of natural and man-made materials, in workshop sessions. The willow insect creations will support curriculum work for our Year 11 students who have been developing ideas for insects as part of their coursework.
Student, Evie Wright, said: “It was really helpful having professional artists come into the classroom and teach us new techniques.”

Director, Lee Threadgold, said: “The pieces will be displayed as part of ‘The Song of Leviathan’ community production at Coastival on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 February. It is a large-scale piece of theatre featuring spectacular visuals, and based on our previous work in the area, will attract considerable media attention, therefore providing the opportunity for celebrating the students’ achievements in front of a wider audience.”
