A Flamborough RNLI spokesperson said: “The dog was a medium-sized, fluffy brown dog, possibly a Cockerpoo-type.

“The volunteer crew, along with the Coastguard Rescue Team, tried to locate the dog’s owners. In the meantime, the dog was handed over to a local vet, who took care of it while we waited for its owners to come forward.

“The owner has now been found.

“The lifeboat returned to station at 9:19pm, where the volunteer crew and shore crew cleaned and refuelled the lifeboat and launch tractor, ensuring everything was ready for the next service.

“A big thank you to everyone involved in the rescue.”
