Bridlington Animal Park appeals for unwanted Halloween pumpkins to feed its animals

Families are being urged to give their unwanted Halloween pumpkins a second life by donating them to Bridlington Animal Park, where they can become a tasty treat for its animal residents.

During the Halloween period, many carved pumpkins are destined for the bin. However, the family-owned attraction is encouraging people to think twice before throwing them away and instead help reduce waste by donating suitable pumpkins for its animals to enjoy.

The park, based on Covert Lane, Carnaby, is happy to accept unwanted pumpkins, which can be enjoyed by a range of its animals, including pigs, goats and sheep.

Visitors and members of the public can drop off their pumpkins at any time, even when the park is closed, by leaving them by the gates.

However, there are a few important rules to follow to ensure the pumpkins are safe for the animals.

The park cannot accept pumpkins that are rotten or mouldy, those that have contained candles or candle wax, or pumpkins that have been painted or decorated.

Fresh, clean pumpkins are welcome.

A spokesperson for Bridlington Animal Park spokesperson said: “A huge thank you to everyone who thinks of our animals. Your donations really are appreciated!”

The appeal offers Yorkshire coast residents a simple way to cut down on Halloween waste while providing an enjoyable seasonal treat for the park's animals.

Bridlington Animal Park is an award-winning, family-owned attraction offering a fun-filled day out for families. Its collection includes parrots, owls, flamingos, zebras, meerkats, lemurs, camels and raccoons.
