Cloughton Rat Pack helps bring sensory and wellbeing space to life at Saint Catherine's
Members of the Cloughton Rat Pack have visited Saint Catherine’s Hospice to see first-hand the Sensory and Wellbeing Space they helped sponsor and to learn more about the difference it is making for people living with a life-limiting condition.
Designed as a peaceful retreat, the space has been created to support wellbeing during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Available to people across the local community, as well as patients receiving care through Saint Catherine’s, it offers a calm environment where people can step away from the demands of illness and everyday life, taking time to relax, reflect and simply be.
The project was the vision of Occupational Therapist Holly James, who recognised the need for a dedicated therapeutic space to support emotional wellbeing.
Holly has been instrumental in bringing the idea to life, carefully overseeing every stage of the project to ensure the room provides a welcoming, accessible and restorative environment.
Featuring soft adjustable lighting, bubble tubes, gentle music and comfortable seating, the Sensory and Wellbeing Space has been thoughtfully designed to help reduce anxiety, promote relaxation and provide gentle, non-pharmacological support.
Whether someone is looking for a quiet moment alone, a calming environment to regulate their emotions, or a peaceful place to spend time with loved ones, the room offers a flexible, person-centred experience tailored to
individual needs.
Holly said: “The idea behind the Sensory and Wellbeing Space was to create somewhere people could take time out from everything else that is going on in their lives.
“Living with a life-limiting condition can be incredibly overwhelming, and having access to a calm, therapeutic environment can make a real difference.”
The Sensory and Wellbeing Space is available to people receiving care through Saint Catherine’s, family members and carers, as well as members of the local community living with a life-limiting condition.
Members of the local community can book one-hour sessions for £25.
Patients receiving care through Saint Catherine’s can access the space as part of their care and support.

Saint Catherine’s thanked the Cloughton Rat Pack for their generosity.
Their sponsorship has helped create a lasting community resource that will provide comfort, wellbeing and moments of calm for many years to come.
