Scarborough WEA encourages people to exercise their grey matter in the New Year

Whatever your New Year’s Resolutions, exercising the grey matter has never been easier thanks to the Scarborough Branch of the Workers’ Education Association.

Courses begin in January 2023 and take in a wide-range of subjects, from creative writing to yoga.

WEA tutor, George Cromack, said: “January is not only the beginning of a brand-new year, it is also a chance to learn a new subject or skill.

“The local branch of WEA is very active, with venues including the Stephen Joseph Theatre (SJT) and the YMCA theatre.

“Some students will be able to attend courses for free and there is always a great mix of attendees.

Courses set to start in January include:

Film Studies – Flights of Fantasy

From January 9 – 7pm - for 10 sessions at the SJT

Creative Writing – Jabberwocky Jamble: Word Power Workshop with George Cromack

From January 12 – 7pm - for five sessions at the SJT

Creative Writing – Tales to Tell: Life Writing for Wellbeing

From January 12 – 2pm – for five sessions at the SJT

Yoga For All to Support Health and Wellbeing with Nicola Bailey

From January 12 – 10am – for 10 sessions at The Street

Chair Yoga with Nicola Bailey

January 19 – 10.30am – one session at The Street

The Art of Nature (Improvers) with Ruth Collet

From January 25 – 10am - for 9 sessions at Woodend Creative

Photography Taster Sessions – Free to Attend

January 27 and February 10 – 10.30am – at Eastfield Library
