Irish pub in Filey plans change for customers
A popular Irish pub in Filey has applied for a new licence from North Yorkshire Council.
Fado & Tide in Filey, popular for its Irish breakfasts and curated selection of beers, is seeking a new pavement licence.
If the Melly Group’s proposal is approved, the pub would be allowed to place “removable tables, chairs and associated barriers on the public highway immediately outside the premises to provide an external seated customer area ancillary to the operation of the café, bar, and restaurant”.
Found at 9 and 11 Murray Street, the pub has a rating of 4.9 out of five stars on the customer-feedback website TripAdvisor.

Earlier this year, another pub on Murray Street was refused permission to use its rear yard as a seating area for its customers.
Banks Lounge Bar’s application for an outdoor drinking area was refused by councillors who said it would have had an “unacceptable” impact on local residents.
Fado & Tide’s website states: “Open from morning till night, we serve fresh coffee, hearty breakfasts, and delicious brunches by day, then transform into a relaxed evening spot with comforting dishes, creative cocktails, and live music on weekends.”
The deadline for representations from members of the public is Friday, July 24.
Anyone wishing to make representations regarding the application should give notice in writing to: North Yorkshire Council, Licensing Services, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, YO11 2HG.
The licensing authority can also be contacted by email at [email protected].
North Yorkshire Council’s website states: “It is an offence knowingly or recklessly to make a false statement in connection with an application, punishable on summary conviction by an unlimited fine.”
