Pride in Place: Here's how you can help to shape the future of Scarborough
People who live or work in Scarborough are being invited to play an active part in the town’s future by joining the Scarborough Neighbourhood Board.
The Board is helping to guide Scarborough’s Pride in Place programme, which will bring £19.5 million of Government investment into the town over the next 10 years.

This long-term funding will support projects designed to make a visible and lasting difference to everyday life in Scarborough, from improvements to local places and facilities to activities that strengthen communities, create opportunities and improve health and wellbeing.
The Scarborough Neighbourhood Board already brings together people from local businesses, education, public services, voluntary organisations and community groups. It is now looking to welcome new members who can bring additional experience, fresh ideas and different perspectives to its work.

Applications are welcomed from people of all ages and backgrounds, although the Board is particularly keen to hear from young people aged between 18 and 30.
No previous board experience is required. What matters is having something useful to contribute, a genuine commitment to Scarborough and the enthusiasm to get involved.
The Board would particularly welcome applications from people with experience in:
• project management and programme delivery
• security or community safety
• business leadership or entrepreneurship
• regeneration, construction or infrastructure
• finance, governance or risk management
• commercial, legal or strategic leadership
• community leadership or active participation in their local community
People with experience in other areas are also encouraged to apply if they believe they could make a positive contribution.
Board members will help shape the direction of Pride in Place, oversee the progress of projects and work with residents, businesses, community organisations and local partners.
The role is voluntary and includes attending quarterly Board meetings, together with occasional additional meetings, engagement activities and Task and Finish Groups where appropriate.
Applicants must live or work in Scarborough and be able to demonstrate a commitment to the town and its communities.
This is an opportunity to get involved in one of the most significant investment programmes Scarborough has seen and help make a lasting difference to the town.

Completed applications must be submitted by Friday 4 September 2026.
