We asked readers across Yorkshire what gets them feeling most nostalgic about the decade, and it stirred up some very happy memories.
Many of you remember that era fondly as the best time of your life, whether it was the shops, the fashion, the music or simply your lost youth you are pining most for today.
It wasn’t all good, of course. As one reader pointed out, it was the decade of the three-day week, the bread strike, the miners’ strike and the winter of discontent, while soaring inflation left many people facing crippling mortgage repayments.
But, whether it’s because you’re looking through rose-tinted glasses or not, most of you remember the 70s fondly.
Asked what you missed most about the decade, some of you simply replied ‘everything’ or ‘happy days’.
Others were more specific, recalling great nights out at lost venues, good times playing on the streets with friends, and, of course, the prices.
Below are some of the things that came up most frequently when we asked what you miss about the 70s, with retro photos to bring the memories flooding back.

1. The price of a pint
A typical pint of beer cost just 11.5p in 1970, according to official parliamentary records, and 17p four years later. Even taking the second figure and allowing for inflation, that works out at £1.63 today. | Sheffield Newspapers

2. Fish and chips in newspaper
Lots of people have fond memories of the days when fish and chips used to come wrapped in old newspaper, enabling you to catch up on world affairs while tucking into your fish supper | Sheffield Newspapers

3. Pop man
The pop man's arrival was the highlight of the week for many children in the 70s. They would deliver fizzy drinks each week, including Corona and Alpine, with orangeade, cherryade and cream soda among the popular flavours. 4. Pools man
Long before the National Lottery was on the scene, people dreamed of winning the football pools. The Littlewoods man would go door to door collecting people's coupons, with their predictions for that week's games, along with their money, and dropping off new coupons for the following week. Spot the ball competitions were also popular, with entrants having to mark with a cross the spot where they thought the ball should be. | Getty Images Photo: M. Stroud/Daily Express/Hulton Archive
