Filey beat rivals Ebberston to keep Scarborough Evening Cricket League Division A title race alive
Filey held on for an 11-run win at home to Scarborough Evening Cricket League Division A leaders Ebberston to keep the title race alive.
The hosts must have feared the worst when they only made 113-8, David Brannan hitting a vital 26 while James Boyes sparkled for Ebberston with an impressive 3-25 and Sam Hardie chipped in with 2-17.

Ebberston could have all but sealed the title win if they had surpassed Filey’s total, but brilliant bowling from Harry Burton (4-15) and Brannan (3-24) saw the visitors fall short on 102-9, Joe Dunnett top-scoring with 31.
Despite the loss Ebberston are still in a great position, five points clear of Filey, although while the leaders have two matches left Filey have three, so any more slip-ups from Ebberston could allow Filey to take advantage.
Brompton’s relegation to Division B was confirmed by their six-wicket loss at Flixton.
The nine-man visitors were skittled for 85, Ben Jarvis hitting 32 while Chris Mann scooped 2-8.
Fin Ward (32) and brother Marley (14no) steered Flixton to victory.

Dan Outhart took 2-16 as the visitors were restricted to 121-9, Matty Morris top-scoring with 24.
Staxton finished agonisingly short on 114-4 despite the best efforts of Brad Milburn (34no) and opener Ben Squires (27), Archie Graham bagging 2-30.
Scalby kept their hopes of beating relegation alive with a 32-run success at fellow strugglers Wykeham.
Opener Lachlan Cooke’s brilliant 63 from 40 balls proved vital as the visitors posted 155-9, David Morris adding 25 while Harry Amstell snapped up a stunning 4-30 and Harry Hutchinson an excellent 3-29.
Amstell top-scored with 34 to cap a fine all-round evening, but although several Wykeham batsmen made starts they failed to go on as the hosts made 123-6, Max Hesp on top form with a superb 3-35.
Ebberston B’s seven-wicket home success against fellow Division B strugglers Cloughton has all-but confirmed their place in the division for 2027.
Morgan Grunwell snapped up 3-30, with two wickets apiece for Jack Garritty and Stu Watmore as Cloughton were restricted to 107-7 despite the best efforts of Sean Exley (50).

Already promoted Ganton conceded their game at home to third-placed Snainton, who are now on 20 points, the same tally as second-placed Sherburn after their visitors Seamer also conceded.
