SATURDAY LEAGUE: FC Rosette secure promotion

Rosette can now only be caught by second-placed Goal Sports so they have sealed their instant promotion to the second division. Man of the match for Rosette was Mikey Harland, who also missed a penalty.

Westover started the game with only 10 men, were reduced to nine when Luke Rainton was sent off for two cautions and ended the game with seven players due to injuries.

Goal Sports' chances of pipping Rosette to the title were dented by their 1-1 draw at home to 10-man Eastway Sports.

Eric Hall put Eastway ahead in the first half against the run of play, Kieran Friett levelling for Goal Sports after the interval.

The hosts dominated possession but Eastway's 10 men defended valiantly and keeper Jordan Wood was their man of the match. Goal Sports also had four goals disallowed by ref Dave Hudghton.

Sherburn kept their faint hopes of bagging promotion as runners-up alive with a 5-2 win at Commercial.

The villagers went ahead after 10 minutes through player-boss Andy Adamson's header at the back post from a Sam Rackham corner.

They doubled their lead after good work from Gary Tyson set up Liam Scott to curl his shot into the top corner, and Tyson made it 3-0 with a fine solo goal before Chris Millson scored from a Macauley Riley cross to make it 3-1.

A mis-cued clearance by a Commercial centre-back looped in for 4-1 just on half-time.

Paul Mills raced clear after 50 minutes to make it 5-1 to Sherburn before the hosts got a late consolation through Josh Dolan in a tame second half.

Man of the match was Steve Parker, the captain led by example at centre-back, while Bobby Scarborough was the star man for Commercial for the second game running.

Curtis Rose, Ellis Wilson and sub Jack Ramos scored as Itis Itis Rovers won 3-2 at home to Fishburn Park Reserves.

Edgehill leapt up to second in tDivision One table when they edged out Westover Wasps by a 2-1 scoreline.

Tom Scales gave Steve Clegg's side the lead after 10 minutes, but basement boys Westover stunned their high-flying hosts when restoring parity before the interval.

An understrength Edgehill had to dig deep in the latter stages, as they had to finish the game with 10 men due to injury. But by that point Danny Collins' deflected shot had moved them back into the ascendancy.

The whole Westover team did well on the night as they were unlucky not to get anything from the game, while 16-year-old full-back Josh Wallace took the plaudits for Edgehill.

Edgehill leapfrogged 10-man Newlands after they were soundly beaten 8-3 by Sleights.

Sleights eased to victory over a depleted Newlands side, at Caedmon College.

Jim Howard's men led early on when Lewis Peel fired home. However, the Flixton-based visitors levelled, before Charlie Smith notched his sixth of the season to reassert home advantage.

The second half saw Newlands level from a poorly defended free-kick, but Sleights' Sam Leadley replied seconds later.

Ben Cairns made it four, while Leadley's second was soon followed by a brace from Billy Graham and a deflected effort from hard-working fellow sub Taylor Humble. The away side scrambled in a late consolation in-between.

Liam Mancrief, Dan Freer and Sam Chambers were on target for Newlands.

Robbie Hurworth was the star man for the victors.

In Division Two, Seamer Reserves beat Filey Town Reserves 4-2.

It was an impressive team performance from Seamer, with Gary Walters impressing in goal, while hat-trick hero Tommy Adams caught the eye in midfield.

Ali Caw struck the other for Seamer, though Filey had chances to close the gap between the sides.

Scalby threw away a 4-1 lead to lose 6-5 against West Pier Reserves.

A Jonny McGough own goal gave Scalby the advantage, and after a Rob Speight penalty levelled up, goals from George Wilson, Mike Hartnett and a second McGough calamity left the villagers cruising.

Speight pulled it back to 4-2 after a glaring error from sub Mark Vasey, then a Matty Turner own goal brought them within one.

Speight then made it 4-4 straight from the kick off and he then added his fourth to move Pier ahead.

Hartnett drew Scalby level in the 80th minute from the penalty spot, but Speight's fifth and final goal gave Pier the points.
