With scores of 75, 65. 65 he broke the gentlemen's course record by one shot, which has been in place for the last six years.

At Filey Golf Club Championship earlier this month, Sanghera shot 69 in the morning and then shot an incredible 64 in the afternoon, breaking his own course record he set just two weeks prior.

He chipped in on the last for a birdie to secure the new course record having seven birdies in his last nine holes coming back in 29.

Sanghera said: “The course was set up in probably the best condition it has been in this year. Thanks to my playing partners for an enjoyable day and for willing the last shot of the day to go in.

“I set out at the start of the year to break the course record of 66, so to do it once was fantastic but to then break my own record two weeks later is an incredible achievement.”

Filey GC Secretary George Davies added: “Tom has enjoyed a remarkable season, cementing his place as one of the district's leading amateur golfers.

"Just two weeks after claiming the prestigious East Riding Amateur Championship, he added a third Filey Golf Club Championship title to his growing list of achievements with a superb display over 36 holes.

"Having joined Filey Golf Club in 2023, Tom has become an invaluable member of the club’s scratch team and has played a significant role in the club’s success this season.

"His individual achievements have been matched by the team’s accomplishments, with Filey GC winning the East Riding Union of Golf Clubs Team Championship and securing promotion from Division 5 to Division 3 of the Yorkshire Union Team Championship.

"Together, these successes have capped off a truly outstanding season for both Tom and Filey Golf Club, highlighting a year of exceptional achievement both individually and as part of a thriving team environment.”

Filey GC have recently installed trackman range which is a ball tracking driving range addition.

The club is constantly looking at ways to improve the facilities of the club for members and visitors.

Benefits to golfers include accurate yardages and shot tracking, instant feedback on ball speed, carry distance, launch angle, spin rates and club data.

This helps golfers of all abilities improve their game, and has loads of entertainment features including: Virtual golf on the top courses in the world, closest to the pin and longest drive competitions, family friendly games suitable for beginners and juniors, which can be played play rain or shine.

Secretary Davies said: “The trackman range is a great step forward for the club. It provides our members and visitors with access to world-class technology and creates an exciting new way to practice, play and enjoy golf. The facility will hopefully increase revenue from the driving range into the club, which will help us invest further into our course, facilities, and overall experience we offer both members and guests.”
