Borough Bowling Club stars sparkle at cup finals night

First up was the Ladies final in which Lynn Gates played Pauline Allison for the Maltby Cup.

On a fast running tricky green after losing the first end Lynn raced away into a 10-2 lead.

Once Pauline found the pace of the green she found her way back into the game just 11-10 down.

Once again though Lynn took charge of the game and raced away to win 21-14.

Second up was the seniors trophy for Over-65s between Club President Shaughan Temple and Club Secretary Barrie Watson for the Russell Cup.

Again this game followed a similar pattern with Shaughan racing off into a 7-2 lead before Barrie came back into the game securing a 12-10 lead.

Shaughan then took charge of the game and won seven ends in a row to take the trophy 21-12.

The last event was the Foxton Novices Cup, which saw Pauline Allison in her second final of the night, facing Jim Barr.

This game was more of a nip-and-tuck affair with some great bowling from both players. After 19 ends the game was locked at 12-12.

Pauline looked to be pulling away as she took a 15-12 lead before Jim won back the Jack and bowled out into a 21-15 victory.
