Scarborough AC’s Daniel Bateson wins Saltergate Gallows race
Nine Scarborough Athletic Club members competed in the fourth race of the Esk Valley Fell Club’s Winter Series of races which was the Saltergate Gallows race, which was based at and around the North Yorkshire National Park village of Levisham.
The course consisted of 14 kilometres with 360 metres of climb.
The first finisher for the club was Daniel Bateson who was the first overall finisher.
He was followed by Paul Lawton, Ekaitz Enanue and Andrew Robertson, who was the second-placed Over-65, who closed in for the team, that finished in fourth place.
Dave Lester, who made a notable Fell Race debut, backed up the team.
The club’s females who finished as the first Women’s Team, were led by Nicola Kidd who was fourth Female overall and second Over-40.
She was followed by Katy Dannrolle, who was the second Over-50, Marianne Borsheim and Christine Robertson, who was the second Over-65, who closed in for the winning team.
Eighteen SAC members took part in the latest Woodlands Scarborough Parkrun.
The first finisher for the club was Aaron Padgham, who was fourth overall of 148 at Saturday’s five-kilometre run.
The club’s females were led by Nikola Carr Walls, who was first Female overall of 59, with a Personal Best time.

Nine Scarborough AC members took part in the latest North Yorkshire Water Park parkrun at Wykeham.
Hester Butterworth was the club’s first finisher with 11th overall of 92 and the first Female overall of 40.
Peter Shepherdson led the club’s males with 39th overall and third Over-50.

At the Dalby Forest parkrun, Christopher Wright was the fourth-placed Over-65, while at the Cinder Track (Whitby) parkrun Karl Cousins was the sixth Over-50 athlete.
At the Gladstone Park North London parkrun, Shirley Field was the first Over-55, and at the Fulham parkrun Jayne Graves was the first Over-60 athlete.
Chelsey Glegg was the second-placed Female overall of 151 at the Swindon parkrun, and Suzzane Villers was the second Over-60 runner at Cardiff parkrun.
At the York parkrun, Michael Webster was the eighth Over-60 and Angela Jordan the ninth Over-55, while at the Heslington (York) parkrun, Martin Pepworth was seventh Over-55.
Christian Brown was sixth Over-60 runner at Woodhouse Moor (Leeds) parkrun and at the Great Yarmouth parkrun Matthew Rutt was fifth overall of 72.
