Overall an excellent result.

The Mixed B team were not quite so lucky on their travels to Flamborough, also in Division Three.

On a cold night and having to sit out for long periods because there were only two courts they had a very tight contest with the match standing at four rubbers each going into the last round.

Unfortunately they lost the final rubber and the match by four rubbers to five.

Jim Mellor with Joy Sharples had a very good night winning all three rubbers with Mark White and partner Vicky Callow taking the one.

Nick Sharples and Gail Kerr put up a good fight throughout the match but couldn’t add to the score.

It was a fine contest enjoyed by all.

The Hackness and Scarborough Ladies played next.

The Ladies A team were away on the two courts at Flamborough in division three.

Despite having long waits in the cold they came home with a superb eight rubbers to one victory.

Sue Kendall with Julie Boddy won all their three rubbers as did Vicki Callow with Sue Crocker.

Judy Milburn and Michelle Harrison took a very creditable two rubbers.

The Ladies B team just missed out at their Hackness home against Pocklington D by four rubbers to five, also in Division Three.

Another very hard fought contest that saw Jen Fell and Sarah Hoff and Hannah Longman with Anne Schmuck, both pairs taking two rubbers each.

Gail Kerr and partner June Stephenson had three hard battles but couldn’t quite take the fifth and vital rubber for the win.

The weather once again interfered with the Men’s matches on the Thursday evening with the A, C and D team matches all postponed.

The Men’s B team played their Division Two match versus Beverley and East Riding B in the Indoor Tennis Centre at Pindar.

Struggling a little for success so far the team had a welcome victory by six rubbers to three.

All three pairs lost against the visitors first couple but went on to have wins against the oppositions other two pairs.

The team for Hackness and Scarborough were Bryan Edwards with P J Guthrie, Steve Mills with Martin Glassett and Jonathan Bramley and Paul Zac, who will hope they can build on this for the second half of the season.
