Since his arrival over a year ago at St. Martin's, Father Kenny has taken a particular great interest in the architectural history of his parish, especially given the context of his own unique church.

Designed by Gothic Revivalist and ecclesiastical specialist George Frederick Bodley, St. Martin’s is a Grade I listed building with a unique pre-Raphaelite interior.

Father James said: "The South Cliff of Scarborough shows the chronological development of English architecture from the 1840’s right up to the mid-20th century”.

The tour is limited to 25 places which are free with booking being highly recommended in advance.

The event is a precursor to the afternoon lectures held at St Mary's Church headlined by historian Dr Allan Brodie of Bournemouth University commencing at 3pm.

‘The Vicar’s Architectural Tour of South Cliff’ on Saturday September 19 commences at 10am from St Martin’s Church.

Places are free with booking in advance recommended at ticketsource.co.uk/bibts.

Big Ideas By The Sea Festival 2027 will take place from Friday May 14 - Saturday May 29.
