Skipper Joel Ramm showed great composure, guiding the ball into the top corner with a superb finish.

Scarborough gradually grew into the game and came close to equalising from close range, only to be denied by a remarkable save from Cam Anderson.

However, on the half-hour mark, the hosts got a deserved equaliser with a well-taken Andrew Bruce volley at the far post.

Just two minutes before the break, Edgehill were awarded a penalty after stalwart Ramm was fouled in the box.

Robbie Scarborough stepped up and confidently converted to restore Edgehill’s advantage.

The second half took a little while to get going, with the referee producing a few yellow cards along the way.

Unfortunately, Edgehill’s task became considerably harder 15 minutes after the restart when Jacob Hakings received his second yellow card, leaving the visitors with only 10 men.

The lads dug deep, raised their game and produced an outstanding response

Excellent work from Kaden Evans, who skipped past a couple of challenges before setting up Rueben Taylor.

The midfielder made no mistake from close range to score his first goal for the club. A great moment for Rueben.

Evans then put the game beyond doubt, once again using his electric pace to devastating effect before firing underneath the goalkeeper.

Despite being a man down, Edgehill continued to threaten and could easily have added further goals late on.

Artie Dodds combined particularly well with George Martin and Josh Fergus as the visitors looked to finish in style

Man of the match was awarded to Ramm for rolling back the years.

It was a fantastic all-round performance from the skipper, strong tackles, excellent standards, breaking up play and constantly encouraging those around him. A captain’s performance.

Jack Hakings and Gaz Thomas were excellent at the back, while Joe Gallagher also deserves recognition for his contribution.

However, manager Josh Hakings was quick to praise all 16 players involved.

To go down to 10 men and respond in the manner the lads did says everything about the squad’s character, togetherness and determination.
