'An incredible human being': Tributes paid to Scarborough artist Rew Nurse
People from across Scarborough have taken to social media to pay tribute to talented artist Rew Nurse.
Announcing the news on Rew’s Facebook page, son Jordan led the tributes saying: “He was the most loving and caring father a son and daughter could ever ask for.

“He was loved by so many people in so many different ways.”
Dads Behaving Madly described Rew as ‘one of our community’s true superheroes’. Their post read: “Our town hasn't just lost a brilliant artist; we have lost an incredible human being.

“Rew possessed a rare, breathtaking talent and an infectious creative spark.
“But more than what he put on a wall or canvas, it was the way he used that gift to lift others up that made him truly special.
“Rew had a unique passion for inspiring children, young adults, and anyone who doubted themselves.
“He had a way of making the next generation believe in their own potential—showing them that they were gifted, capable, and that there are no limits to the art and beauty they could create.

“He turned blank concrete into pure soul, and self-doubt into genuine confidence.
“He was a hero to his children and loved by countless people across our community.
“Rew, your colour, your kindness, and your impact will live on in every young life you inspired and every space you made brighter.”
Former Scarborough Fair Festival director Julian Caddy said: “Rew was a brilliant artist, much loved and respected across Scarborough, so great to work with and above all a really kind man.
“Rest in peace, Rew. You will be sorely missed but you leave a legacy that will be remembered.”
The Aska Hub C.I.C said: “Everyone is heartbroken to hear of the devastating loss of Rew Nurse.
“Rew was one of the most amazing artists, his artwork brought joy to so many, he gave so much time to local schools, our community and gave so many children opportunities that they may never have had chance to experience.
“Whilst everyone will forever remember the amazing artist, we also want to honour the man he was.
“Kind, funny, generous and creative. He adored his children and his pride in them shone through in all he did. He lit up when talking about his family.
“The world lost someone special.”
