Terrington Hall School named one of the best in the UK

Society magazine Tatler has hailed Terrington Hall Prep as ‘one of the best independent schools in the country’ for the third year in a row.

The school, which teaches children aged 3 to 13 in the Howardian Hills, is one of just nine prep schools in the North and Scotland to be selected for inclusion in the Tatler School Guide 2027.

For the review, Tatler collected questionnaires from current parents and children and sent a researcher to the school.

The magazine described Terrington Hall as a ‘close-knit community’, where parents enjoy social events and children enjoy ‘inter-year lunches alongside their teachers’.

The school’s headmaster, Huw Thomas, was declared as ‘the school’s best asset’, being ‘sensible, enthusiastic, calm and astute’.

Mr Thomas said: “We are thrilled that Tatler has captured the friendly and inclusive nature of Terrington Hall. It absolutely does lead to happy, confident children who can hold their own in any situation, and who are always welcoming to new pupils or visitors.”

Tatler considers independent schools across the UK before selecting those they designate ‘best’ for its annual guide, which is can be purchased with the October edition of the magazine.
