One of the oldest coffee lounges in Scarborough applies for outdoor seating licence
One of the oldest coffee lounges in Scarborough – Emma’s Coffee Lounge – has applied for a new outdoor seating licence from North Yorkshire Council.
The business wants permission to place up to a dozen chairs outside the café in Huntriss Row.
The popular establishment opened in 1981 and serves “breakfast, morning coffee, lunches and afternoon tea to the local Scarborough community and visitors, with a team of outstanding staff”.
According to its website, the coffee shop is “delighted to support local producers and suppliers” and is “justifiably proud” of its handmade cakes and pastries.

If the pavement licence application is approved, three tables and 12 chairs would be placed at 30, Huntriss Row.
Bethany Lerigo’s proposal is currently open to representations from members of the public.
The deadline for members of the public to comment on the pavement seating plans is Friday, September 11.
Anyone wishing to make representations regarding the application should give notice in writing to: North Yorkshire Council, Licensing Services, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, YO11 2HG.
