Beckett Division 1 title and promotion rivals set for final-day drama
The Beckett Division 1 title – and promotion – race will go down to the final weekend of the season, with four teams in the hunt.
Staithes and Sherburn are locked together at the top on 144 points, while Filey are two points behind on 142 and Ebberston in fourth on 140 points.

The champions and the runners-up will be promoted to new-look 2027 Eastern Conference previously named as Championship East.
Sherburn will play host to lowly Scalby 2nds on Saturday, Staithes head to fifth-placed Ganton and Filey play host to Ebberston in a crunch clash.

Sherburn missed the chance to seal promotion as they slumped to a 102-run loss at fellow high-flyers Staithes.
Openers Brad Lewis (67) and Billy Welford (39) led the way for the home side as they made their way to 228-7, Rich Ward adding 31 and Ben Theaker 21no, while Phil Pickard took an impressive 4-48.
In reply, Lewis Spenceley’s stunning 5-53, along with two wickets each for Lewis and Callum Horne saw Sherburn dismissed for 126 in 30.4 overs, number 9 bat Phil Pickard top-scoring with 30no to cap a great all-round performance after openers Jordan Wharton and George Wilson had hit 29 and 28 respectively.
Ebberston also missed the chance to secure promotion as they suffered a shock one-wicket loss at home to Brompton.
Although opener Mike Hirst hammered a swift 48 the hosts looked in deep trouble at 114-7, but Frankie Beal’s brilliant 62no in 58 balls helped them to 194-9, Ben Jarvis and Harry Edwards taking three wickets apiece.
Andrew Turns’ cracking 72 along with opener Tm Fletcher-Varey’s 41 looked to have put Brompton on track for victory but top bowling from Ben Lockey (3-38), along with two wickets apiece for Beal, James Boyes and Sam Hardie took Ebberston to the brink of promotion only for Brompton’s Jay Allison Wilson (29no) to steer the visitors to a one-wicket win.
Filey remain in the hunt for honours after a comfortable 77-run win at Great Habton.
Lewis East and Ben Rowe were the star batsmen for the visitors, hitting 72no and 71 respectively to help Filey post 219-7, Craig Sanderson adding 31.
Stuart Watmore claimed 3-54 for Habton.
Josh Dawson’s amazing 5-22 then helped skittle Habton for 142 in 26.2 overs, Jack Garritty top-scoring on 31 retired.
Ganton won by five wickets in a low-scoring contest at Bridlington 2nds.
Callum Morley took 3-24 as Brid collapsed from 85-3 to 103 all out despite fine batting from Tom McMeeken in his 63.
Ganton lost two early wickets by Fred Bradley (41) and opener Jack Heslsehurst (31) helped them to 110-5 in 23.2 overs.
Charlie Geall took a magnificent 7-42 as Scalby 2nds eased to a swift seven-wicket win at home to 10-man Thornton Dale.
Jon Barton (54no) and fellow veteran Dave Holborn (38) helped Scalby to 108-2 in 19.4 overs.
Forge Valley 2nds missed out on the chance of gaining promotion from Beckett Division 4 after they finished their season with a 102-run hammering at home by champions Sherburn 2nds, who won all 18 matches in a sensational season.
Scott Wilson top-scored with 29 as the champs were skittled for 151 in 32.5 overs thanks to Abi Boyes’ amazing spell of 6-38 in 6.5 overs, Lenny Gonsalves adding 28 and Jordan Collins 23.
Valley will have fancied their chances of a decent run-chase but they collapsed to 49 all out in 19.2 overs, Jake Peckitt scooping 3-12 with two wickets apiece for Daley Wharton and Ashley Oldroyd.
Lowly Wykeham 3rds ended their season on a high note with a four-wicket success at basement team Glaisdale 2nds.
Jed De La Mare, Thomas Danby and Oliver Trousdale took two wickets apiece as Glaisdale were dismissed for 120 in 24.3 overs, Sam Wright making 30.
Gary Owen’s brisk 31no in 32 balls, assisted by De La Mare’s 26 retired from just 11 balls, guided the visitors from 41-4 to 124-6 in 24.3 overs.
