Staxton set the pace in rain-hit Scarborough Evening Cricket League
Once again the wet weather wrecked the Scarborough and District Evening Cricket League action on Tuesday night, with only four games being completed.
Staxton are top of Division A after their 34-run victory at home to Scalby thanks to a stunning all-round performance from Danny O’Connor.

The young all-rounder top-scored with a powerful 86 from just 48 balls, including 14 fours, as the hosts batted first and reached 140-5 from their 14 eight-ball overs.
Nathan Valentine took 2-16 in two overs.
In reply, O’Connor’s excellent spell of 3-11 ensured Scalby never looked like chasing the Staxton score down, Scalby skipper Brad Walker top-scored with 34no in their 106-6.
Frankie Beal’s brilliant 5-22 helped Ebberston to a seven-wicket win at home to Folkton & Flixton.
James Boyes also took 2-19 as the visitors limped to 79, number 10 bat Thomas Lodge top-scoring with 18no.
Joe Dunnett’s rapid 46 from just 20 balls, including four sixes and four fours, along with fellow opener Alex Machen’s explosive 30 in 18 deliveries, including three sixes and two fours, steered Ebberston to 81-3 in just 4.5 overs, Rob Middlewood bagging 3-19.
Brompton earned their first win of the season, a three-wicket success at home to previously unbeaten Filey.
Jack Dyson took an impressive 3-10 in three overs and Ben Jarvis 2-8 in two overs as Brompton limited the visitors to 114-9, Thomas Fairburn the top batsman for Filey with 29.
The hosts were in deep trouble on 25-4 but Harry Edwards’ excellent undefeated 61 from just 38 balls, including eight fours and two sixes, along with Tom Fletcher-Varey’s 20no steered them to a victorious 118-6 with 12 balls to spare.
The top Filey bowlers were William Skene (2-19), Josh Dawson (2-27) and Oliver Stabler (2-39).
The only other game to be completed was Muston’s 22-run win – their first of the season – at home to Flamborough in Division C, although Ravenscar conceded their Division B game at home to Seamer B.
The in-form Kop Harrison led the way with the bat for Muston, hitting an excellent 62 from 54 balls as they posted 139-6, Daniel Abram, taking 2-22 for Boro.
Josh Harvey’s superb 69 not out dominated the Flamborough reply, but they ended up short on 117-5, David Philips taking 2-17.
