Scalby Juniors Football Club launch festive fundraiser
Scalby Juniors Football Club is inviting the local community to join its festive fundraising event, “Jumpers for Goalposts”, a 3km run/walk along Scarborough’s stunning seafront.
Participants will don their favourite Christmas jumpers and take on the route from the Sea Life Centre on Saturday December 13, past the Open Air Theatre, and back along the promenade.

The event aims to raise £2,000 towards the cost of new football goals, a vital resource as the club continues to grow.
Over the past six months, Scalby Juniors has expanded from five to nine teams, now supporting 130 children from diverse backgrounds.
The club also offers free Saturday training sessions, ensuring football is accessible to everyone in the community.
“Football brings people together, and Scalby Juniors is proud to be an inclusive club where every child has the chance to play,” said Stewart Ward, volunteer coach for the Under-8s and Under-12s.
He added: “The challenge for community sport is that it relies on a small group of volunteers who put in their time to raise funds for the benefit of the local community. Events like this make a real difference.”
The cost of two new sets of goals is nearly £5,000. Thanks to a £1,000 grant from the Football Foundation, the club is well on its way, but community support is essential to bridge the gap.
