Scarborough Ladies Under-15s impress despite Wilberfoss defeat
Scarborough Ladies FC Under-15s impressed despite their 3-1 loss against a very good Wilberfoss Mavericks in an early kick-off on Saturday at Sherburn.
The first quarter of the game was closely matched with both teams playing some good football, but both defences working to cut out attacks.

Scarborough’s defence of Maddie Watts, Isla Lincoln, Maria Ivanova, Millie Spivey and Olive Atthews worked as a unit to keep Wilberfoss at bay, Isla going onto claim the Player of the Match trophy.
The midfield of Evie Lincoln, Anna Upfold, Annie Farrar and Callie Watts were finding some great patterns and through balls, with the latter unlucky not to be awarded a penalty following a drive into the box.
Five minutes later she took her chance from an Evie through-ball, and calmly slotted beyond the keeper to put Scarborough ahead.
The rest of the half was well matched with Scarborough just edging it and Maddie Ranji pulling off a couple of excellent saves.
Energy levels remained high with Belle Foster, Molly Allanson and Rein Asaolu rotating through various positions to keep fresh legs on the pitch. Wilberfoss equalised on the stroke of half-time with a long-range effort.
The second half started with Wilberfoss on the attack but Boro were looking dangerous on the counter, Ranji now playing as the striker.
A goalmouth scramble led to Wilberfoss going ahead, and as Scarborough pushed for the equaliser they conceded again to make the final score 3-1.
