Belt said: “This year has been an extremely difficult one for obvious reasons.

“Specifically talking from my personal golfing view point it’s somewhat difficult to try and feel totally golf fulfilled only playing what has felt like one-quarter of a season.

“I’m obviously extremely happy to have won this year’s PGA North of England/ Wales Order of Merit and the PGA Yorkshire Order of Merit.

“I have now won these both multiple times which is a nice thing to add to the playing CV, as well as another Yorkshire PGA Championship.

“The six-month break we had from tournament golf before we were able to get back in August didn’t bother me as much as some of my fellow competitors,.

“I don’t have a problem not picking a golf club up to feel as though I’m practising or working hard in order to achieve a goal.

“It gave me time to explore other areas that in the past I’d not really had the gift of time to do, for example, reading more and zoning in on my diet which is difficult to do when constantly on the move.

“I have also been spending more time using different sports to enhance my own, such as paddle boarding, surfing and even long boarding, all of which help with my overall balance, proprioception and more skills that are all required in golf.

“The simple act of floating around in the sea allowed me to digest thoughts and relax way more than ever. Until you get out the water shivering and realise you haven’t earned a penny in six months!”

Belt added: “Hopefully when we come out of this second lockdown then I can get back out playing on the course and continue teaching while getting ready for the 2021 season.
