The Mixed B side welcomed Driffield Rec C and, despite fielding a new-look line-up, produced a convincing 8-1 success.

Lauren Asquith and regular partner Jack Boddy led the way with three wins from three rubbers. They were closely followed by Helen Creaser and Toby Shaw, who also completed a clean sweep despite playing together for the first time.

The remaining two points came from Edie Grimwood and Matt Haxby, another new partnership, as Scalby secured a result that keeps them firmly in the promotion race.

Scalby Mixed A made the trip to Beeford for a fixture that’s often proved challenging on the grass courts and turned in one of their strongest performances of the season to record a superb 9-0 victory, despite introducing two new pairings.

Established duo Milly Sidaway and Mark Whitlegg set the standard, dropping just four games across their three matches.

Louise Tomlinson and Alex Wray quickly found their rhythm in their first outing together, winning all three rubbers, including a hard-fought second-round tie-break.

Julie Boddy, playing without regular partner Simon due to injury, teamed up with Rich Stacey and made an immediate impact. The pair opened with an 8-2 victory before building on that with further wins of 8-0 and 8-1.

The comprehensive victory keeps Mixed A at the top of the table, while Mixed B remain firmly in contention for promotion.

Scalby Ladies were awarded a 9-0 walkover victory as Driffield LTC were unable to raise a team.

The Men’s A side faced a strong Beverley and East Riding B team, who had edged previous meetings by narrow margins.

Led by captain Jack Boddy and regular partner Alex Wray, the hosts rose to the occasion in impressive fashion. Boddy and Wray remained unbeaten throughout the evening and capped their performance with an excellent final-round victory against Beverley’s strongest pairing.

Scalby’s other two pairings of Mark Whitlegg and Tobie Hillier, together with Gareth Mason and Rich Stacey, each contributed two points as the hosts recorded an impressive 7-2 victory.
