Later that same afternoon further up the coast, a Whitby crew attended an incident at Egton Bridge at 5.16pm, where a van was well alight.

Using a hose reel jet and breathing apparatus, firefighters put out the blaze and dampened down hotspots.

In Pocklington at 7.08pm, fire service personnel reported to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on The Balk.

The emergency responders freed a trapped female casualty and both vehicles were made safe, using battery powered and hydraulic cutting equipment, portable lighting and small tools.
