Weather forecast: Sunny patches expected but warm temperatures not set to stay

Many people hit the beach yesterday to enjoy the hottest day on the coast so far this year, and would hope to do the same over the long bank holiday Easter weekend.

But this is what the Met Office are predicting for Scarborough over the next week:

A mostly cloudy to start Thursday but turning brighter with some sunny spells developing throughout the afternoon. Sunny spells from 4pm to 8pm. Colder with a chilly breeze from the North Sea. Maximum temperature 8°C but with a maximum feels like temperature of 4°C.

Good Friday, April 2

Dry, cloudy and rather cool through Friday with little sunshine. Maximum temperatures of 7°C but feeling much cooler. Light winds from the North but very little chance of rain.

Easter Saturday, April 3

Overcast changing to sunny intervals in the afternoon. Temperatures remain cooler with a max of 8°C in the afternoon. Winds subside.

Easter Sunday, April 4

Sunny to start but turning cloudy in the afternoon. Winds picking up later in the day. Feeling a little warmer with a maximum temperature of 11°C between 1pm and 4pm. Rain likely through the night.

Bank holiday Monday, April 5

Sunny intervals changing to cloudy intervals by late morning with a chance of rain in the early afternoon. Temperatures feeling much cooler with a max of 5°C and stronger winds.

Tuesday, April 6

Again, sunny intervals in the morning replaced with cloud by lunchtime. Chance of rain late in the afternoon before a brighter evening. Cool temperatures and gusty winds expected.
