Jono Greening is hoping that his Scarborough Athletic side can build on an impressive display in their 0-0 draw at National League North play-off chasers Boston on Saturday, and end the season on a high at home to Alfreton this weekend.

Greening said: “Hopefully we can finish with a win against Alfreton, I am sure it will be a good turnout for the last game on Saturday.

"Hopefully we can put a good performance in and celebrate with the fans after the game.”

He added: “I thought it was a really good game of football, we started the game quite well the first 10-15 minutes, then we had a spell of 15 minutes where Boston did well and then for the final 15 minutes we got back into the game.

"The second half we came out and we caused them all sorts of problems, we have had chances to win the game, Kole (Hall) has had a couple, Greeny’s had a couple, Fin (Barnes) has had a couple, but we just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. But overall the performance was very good, we know we can give anyone a game.

"I wanted to give all the outfield players a start in the last two games (of the season), we wanted to try people in different positions, we tried Fin in the 10 today, Olly (Dyson) at right-back who I thought was really good. But we still want to win both games.

"We wanted to put on a performance for the fans, I said before the game there were three coaches coming today all in fancy dress and they’ve all put the effort in, I said we owe them a good performance.”
