Lady Lumley’s Academy invites families to Open Evening after record GCSE results

Record-breaking exam success was celebrated at Lady Lumley’s Academy over the summer – and future pupils have a chance to hear what it has to offer at its annual Open Evening.
GCSE English and Maths at grade 5 or above was achieved by “an amazing” 69% of Year 11s. A total of 84% gained grade 4 or above in both subjects.
Principal Clair Foden “could not be prouder of students’ success.”

“When our results are compared to the local and national picture, Year 11 over performed to produce an amazing set of results,” she said.
“The national average last year for those achieving grade 5+ in English and Maths was 45.4% and, for the local authority, it was 47%.
“The results are the product of a great home / school partnership, something visitors to our academy at our Open Evening will hear a lot about.
“We are not just about strong academic performance. We offer a rich, well-balanced curriculum with plenty of opportunities to shine outside of the classroom.”
The Open Evening takes place at the Pickering academy at 5.30pm on Thursday, 1st October.
Visitors on October 1 will have chance to meet students and the staff team to help inform their choice about the right secondary destination for their child.
Ms Foden said: “I am incredibly proud to lead this school, rooted in our special town of Pickering and Ryedale.
“Being part of Delta Academies Trust gives students access to incredible opportunities.
“For example, our Duke of Edinburgh programme is incredibly popular, with 60 students achieving bronze last year.
“Sport and the Arts also plays a key part of our enrichment programme as we strive to unlock the potential in all our students.”
