Dalby Forest near Pickering to host Gruffalo Granny storytelling events this October half-term
Families are invited to step into the deep dark wood this October half-term as Forestry England partners with Macmillan Children’s Books to celebrate the launch of Gruffalo Granny, the new story from the creators of The Gruffalo, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
Visitors can enjoy a free Welcome to Storytime with Gruffalo Granny events at Dalby Forest on 31 October, featuring storytelling sessions, family activities and special appearances from the Gruffalo himself.
The event will give children and their families the chance to bring the newest Gruffalo adventure to life through interactive storytelling and take part in a range of themed activities based on the brand new story.
They can also meet the Gruffalo, who will be making a special guest appearance.
With October half-term falling at one of the most colourful times of year, families can also explore the changing autumn colours, spotting fallen leaves and enjoying the sights and sounds of the season.
Throughout the day, families can enjoy Gruffalo Granny storytelling sessions, meet-and-greet opportunities with the Gruffalo and activity booklets designed to help children continue the adventure.
Copies of Gruffalo Granny by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler will also be available to purchase at participating events.
Forestry England is delighted to be partnering with Macmillan Children’s Books to celebrate the brand new story that comes 22 years after the publication of The Gruffalo’s Child.
There is no need to book, with storytelling sessions and meet-and-greets operating on a first-come, first-served basis.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to Dalby Forest, as sessions may become busy.
