Bridlington Lifeboat Station welcomed visitors earlier this month for a behind the scenes look at how the RNLI saves lives at sea.
The new lifeboat for Staithes arrived on 12 April 1907, a 35ft. x 8ft.3in. self-righter provided from the legacy of Mr J. Gowland. Whilst at Staithes the lifeboat launched 17 times and saved 32 lives.
Today (Thursday 25 July 2024) marks World Drowning Prevention Day and the RNLI is reminding everyone visiting the Yorkshire coast to visit a lifeguarded beach and swim between the red and yellow flags.
